Week 1

Starting with the fundamentals. Drawing boxes was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I had a lot of fun challenging myself to draw perspectives without looking at the reference first, but man it took a lot of brain power. I also struggled a lot with the gesture exercises; I think I need to spend a little more energy breaking down shapes rather than guessing them.
Week 0
Reflecting on my relationship with art & my goals for this week.

I realized recently that I spend a majority of my free time consuming content on the internet. Some would call it doomscrolling. It's a very depressing way to live, and I'm breaking free of it now. While undergoing a depressive episode last week, I decided that anything would be better than rotting away. And so I picked up my pencil, and drew.
As I did, the turmoil in my mind drew to a calm, and the empty feeling in my chest filled with warm sparkles. From there, I decided that I wanted to practice creating more in my daily life.

The sketch that started it all ˊᵕˋ
This is the best sketch I've ever done; it's the first time that I've just sat down and took my time to draw, rather than rushing through the process to get it done. I also watched a lot of tutorials throughout the process. Slow and mindful effort is the way to go for me ^_^.
more art i made afterwards
May 24. I kept seeing art of cute monkeys this year, and wanted to try drawing one myself. It was always pushed aside into the back of my mind until last Sunday. My boyfriend and I went cafe hopping and I fulfilled my desire to draw monke ... instead of studying for finals (ᵕ—ᴗ—).
May 24. After I finished my monkey, my desire to draw continued to overwhelm me. I let my heart guide my hands here.
